CRFF 2017 – Award Ceremony

Award ceremony was presided by film actor Aadhi. He was also received the Rainbow Ambassador award for his role in the film ‘Mirugam’
This year we had a 5 member jury which includes mostly from the tamil film industry participated, discussed, argued and selected the nominees of the award category and also finalized the winner. For both Regional and National category the awards of finalists were presented to the respective filmmakers at the closing ceremony on 8th January at AGS Multiplex Theatre.
 
For Regional
 
1. Ladies & Gentlewomen by Malini Jeevarathnam (a documentary/narrative about Lesbian and Queer women in general) – Finalist – Dubai Trip prize winner Sponsored by Venkat Raman
2. 23 C – Nominated but not won the award
3. Manam – Nominated but not won the award.
 
For National
 
1. Pudhakaar by Anand Gokhale – Finalist – Rs.10000 Cash prize winner
2. All about love – Nominated but not won the award
3. Darwaaze – Nominated but not won the award.
 
For International 
 
1. Why does god hate me by Joel Ashton McCarthy – Finalist – Rs. 10000 Cash prize winner
2. She and I – Nominated but not won the award
3. Safezone – Nominated but not won the award.

Award Ceremony – Awards for Media, Film and Art personalities who have supported and/or contributed to LGBT community and its issues.
The award ceremony is presided by Mr. Bhagyaraj – Legendary Director, Film Maker & Actor.

Chennai Rainbow Film Festival team presents special category of awards for people from Film, Media and art fraternity, who have immensely contributed to the community by highlighting LGBT issues, will be felicitated with a ‘Rainbow Ambassador’ award.
